Privacy Policy

Quest Log ("we", "our", "us") is a mobile application that turns your to-do lists into RPG-style quests. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address and, if you use Google or Apple sign-in, basic profile information provided by that service. If you use Sign in with Apple, you may choose to hide your email address, in which case Apple provides us with a private relay email address instead. Authentication is handled by Clerk.

Profile information. You may optionally set a username, public/private visibility, and character customization options (gender, skin tone, outfit, hairstyle, hair color, background).

Quest data. The tasks and lists you create, including text, completion status, checklist items, effort ratings, and XP earned.

Social features. Ally relationships and quest sharing records between users.

Device information. If you enable push notifications, we store your device's push notification token. We also store your notification preference and theme selection locally on your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the app — storing your quests, calculating XP, and syncing data across your devices.
To transform your tasks into quest descriptions using OpenAI's API. Only your task text is sent to OpenAI for this purpose.
To send push notifications about shared quests and ally activity, if you have opted in.
To diagnose errors and improve app stability using Sentry error tracking.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

Clerk — authentication and account management.
OpenAI — quest text transformation. Only task text you enter is sent; no personal information is included.
Expo — push notification delivery and app updates.
Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notification delivery on Android.
Sentry — error tracking and crash reporting.
Turso — database hosting.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the third-party services listed above to operate the app. If you set your profile to public, your username, character appearance, level, and quest statistics are visible to other users.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data from our systems within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

You can:

View and update your profile information in the app.
Set your profile to private at any time.
Opt out of push notifications at any time.
Request deletion of your account and data — learn more.

7. Children's Privacy

Quest Log is suitable for users of all ages, including children. We collect the same limited information from all users regardless of age — an email address for authentication, along with any profile, quest, and social data you choose to add while using the app. We do not collect any additional personal information from children.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), authenticated API access, and secure third-party services.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app.
